Polly undertook a placement year as part of her university experience. Her placement took place in Huddersfield at a local weaving mill, Taylor & Lodge. Taylor & Lodge is an inhouse weaving mill associated as being one of the leaders in fine worsted suiting, using the finest wool from around the world. At the mill the most luxurious of suiting, jacketing and blazers are designed and manufactured using a range of looms from narrow to full width. Polly's roles as the design and pattern room assistant varied widely, giving her and gaining her a great experience of how the mill runs and works, how the cloth is produced on an industrial scale, the key elements of designing and the importance of quality assurance.
